North East Bus has been established to provide a ‘partnership’ approach to improving the region’s bus services.

Buses in the North East are facing some of the biggest changes for more than a quarter of a century. Nexus and the Tyne and Wear Integrated Transport Authority (ITA) are proposing to take control of all buses that run in and into Tyne and Wear. This could have repercussions for every bus service in the North East of England.

Through this website we’ll keep you up-to-date with progress that’s being made and with the industry’s views on the proposal.

Nexus and the ITA are imposing tight timescales that will be very difficult to meet. Bus passengers deserve to be fully informed about the implications of the ITA’s decision.

We believe in better bus services. The people of the North East deserve nothing but the best!
